The fact that you can use your RV on a business trip, instead of staying in a hotel had never entered my mind until the fact hit me that the only good hotel in the town I was traveling to was fully booked. Taking another hotel several miles away would still get me stuck in a rush hour drive to get to my appointment.
So, with my RV in the yard usually sitting unused during the week, I decided to give it a shot. My meeting was an early morning meeting 200 miles from home. I hung my business attire in the motorhome and headed out. Sure seemed strange dealing with night time driving on a empty highway that we usually travel on with tons of traffic on the weekends.
I decided to head out the night before in the motorhome, and get the bulk of the traveling over with then. I parked at a Wal Mart Supercenter where we have stayed before and allows all night parking. To my surprise, I found nine other RVs in the lot upon my arrival. Unlike on the weekend, when you can sleep till you are not tired anymore, I set the alarm and fell right to sleep. Awakened the next morning and drove to my final destination. Hit the hot water button and took a nice shower before heading out across the parking lot to my meeting place.
Arrived at the meeting refreshed and had a great nights sleep in my OWN bed. No hotel check in. No fumbling for soap and shampoo in tiny bottles. No noise from the TV in the next room. Just a great night's sleep.
Will certainly do that again, although probably not in major cities. Don't want to drive the RV down Fifth Avenue!
